D3Hoops.com Tabs Eeten For Team of the Week

Caty Eeten

D3Hoops.com Announcement

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The accolades continue to pile up for Eureka College sophomore guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.), who has been selected for the D3Hoops.com national Team of the Week for the second time in as many weeks, the website announced Tuesday.  Five players are chosen nationwide for the weekly award.

Eeten scored 35 points to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals in leading the Red Devils to an 80-57 non-conference victory at Concordia (Ill.) last Tuesday.  She was joined by Portia Velasco (St. John Fisher), Sarah Smith (St. Thomas), Katie Aldrich (DePauw) and Tiffany Thomson (Brooklyn) on the Team of the Week and was the only repeat recipient.

The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3hoops.com’s weekly honor roll, in its 15th season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.  The website was founded by executive editor and former Division III sports information director Pat Coleman.  Eeten was chosen as the website’s Central Region Rookie of the Year last season.  Eureka will participate in the second annual D3Hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. on Dec. 27 and Dec. 29.

With three-game averages of 36.7 points and 11.0 rebounds, Eeten has also earned two consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards to open the season.  Eureka will open the 16-game SLIAC schedule Wednesday night at the Reagan Center against Greenville.  Tip-off against the Panthers is set for 6 p.m.
