Box Score

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka College women’s basketball team surpassed its 2008-09 win total with a convincing 76-29 non-conference victory over Lincoln Christian Thursday night at the Reagan Center, Eureka’s sixth triumph of the season.  Eureka senior guard Lauren Snopek (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S./Illinois Central) matched career-highs with 19 points and 10 assists.

Snopek’s effort matched a pair of performances from last season.  Her 19-point showing tied a career-best set Feb. 21, 2009 at Westminster.  Her 10 assists on Wednesday also matched a career-high after dishing out 10 helpers in a 62-45 win over Lincoln Christian on Feb. 12, 2009.

Sophomore forward Chantaivia Knight (Normal, Ill./University H.S.) came off the bench to score 14 points and grab eight rebounds for the Red Devils, who won their second game in their last three outings.  Sophomore forward Lisa Byard (Morton, Ill./Morton H.S.) chipped in with 13 points and eight boards, while freshman guard Jaquie Flanagan (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) added 12 points and six assists.

The Eureka defense forced a season-best 31 turnovers, resulting in 35 of Eureka’s 76 points.  The Red Devils dished out 24 assists as a team on Wednesday, matching their season-best set on opening night in a 77-40 win at Mount Mary (Wis.) on Nov. 20.  Eureka also dominated the inside game, holding a 33-23 advantage in rebounds and outscoring the Red Lions in the paint, 54-12.  All eight Eureka players appeared in the game and made at least one field goal attempt.

Eureka will host its annual Senior Day this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Westminster at the Reagan Center.  The Red Devils will honor lone senior Lauren Snopek with a pregame ceremony.
