Eureka Routs Lincoln Christian, 97-27
LINCOLN, Ill. -- Eureka College freshman guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) scored a game-high 20 points and the Eureka defense forced 58 Lincoln Christian turnovers, driving the Red Devils to a 97-27 non-conference victory over the Red Lions, Wednesday night at the Laughlin Center in Lincoln, Ill.
Eureka opened up a 19-0 lead to start the contest and led by as many as 33 points in the first half before carrying a 41-10 lead into intermission. Eureka held LCU to 11 percent shooting (2-for-19) in the first 20 minutes.
Eeten also recorded nine steals, five rebounds and five assists for Eureka, who ended a four-game road losing streak with the win. Sophomore guard Jaquie Flanagan (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) added a season-high 13 points, followed closely by junior forward Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) with 12 points.
As a team, the Red Devils set a new single-game school record with 41 steals, one better than their 40 steals recorded in the previous meeting between the two squads last month. A total of 12 Red Devils made a field goal for the game and the Red Devils shot 49 percent (40-for-81) for the game.
The Red Devils will return to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this Saturday at Principia in Elsah, Ill. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
