Eureka Win Streak Snapped at Blackburn, 80-72

Box Score

CARLINVILLE, Ill. -- Eureka freshman guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) finished Saturday's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Blackburn with a career-high 26 points, but the host Beavers recorded an 80-72 win over the Red Devils in Carlinville, Ill.  The defeat ends a two-game win streak for Eureka.

In addition to her game-high 26 points, Eeten collected seven rebounds and dished out four assists.  Junior forward Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and junior guard Sara Hamilton (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) added 17 points.

Four Beavers scored in double-figures.  Sierra Shipley paced the hosts with 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.  Blackburn built a 44-34 halftime lead behind six 3-pointers in the first half.

Eureka continued its accurate free throw shooting on Saturday, making 18 of 21 attempts.  Eureka has shot 72 percent as a team from the free throw line this season and 84 percent (81-for-97) its last five games.

The Red Devils will return to the Reagan Center this Wednesday, kicking off a four-game SLIAC home stand with an 6 p.m. tip-off against Spalding.
