Khassandrae Brown Earns Second SLIAC Honor
CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – Eureka College senior forward Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday night. Brown averaged 20.7 points and shot 72 percent from the field in leading the Red Devils to three SLIAC victories last week.
Brown led Eureka to its first-ever season series sweep of Spalding with 29 points and 16 rebounds in the Red Devils’ 82-69 win at the Reagan Center last Monday. She contributed with 20 points and six boards in an 88-66 victory at Blackburn last Wednesday before closing the week with a team-best 13 points in Eureka’s 83-44 triumph at Principia on Saturday. She finished the week with averages of 20.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 2.3 assists and 1.0 block. She made 21 of 29 shots from the field and was also solid at the free throw line, knocking down 20 of 23 attempts for an .870 percentage.
Brown’s accurate shooting performance for the week bumped her season field goal percentage to .577 to rank eighth in NCAA Division III. She also averages 9.0 rebounds per contest to lead all SLIAC players. Brown previously earned SLIAC Player of the Week honors on Dec. 19, 2011.
The Red Devils, currently riding a five-game winning streak, will return to SLIAC action Wednesday at the Reagan Center versus MacMurray at 6 p.m.
