Sara Hamilton Named SLIAC Player of the Week
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College junior guard Sara Hamilton (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Monday night. The first-year junior college transfer averaged 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games last week.
Hamilton scored 11 points and collected eight rebounds with five assists in Eureka’s game at Robert Morris-Springfield last Thursday night. Less than 48 hours later, she poured in 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds and four assists for Eureka’s lone double-double at Illinois-Springfield on Saturday.
One of only two Eureka players to start all nine games this season, Hamilton has averaged a league-high 35.1 minutes per game this season as Eureka’s primary point guard. She is the only player in the nine-team SLIAC to rank among the top-10 in the league in scoring (12.9, seventh), rebounding (7.6, sixth) and assists (2.9, sixth).
Eureka will take a break for the holidays before returning to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action against Fontbonne on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. in Clayton, Mo.
