Spalding Extends Win Streak, Beats Eureka, 92-39

Box Score

EUREKA, Ill. – Spalding starters Kelly Harrod, Beth Jamison and Lauren Reed combined for 52 points and 30 rebounds, helping the visiting Golden Eagles extend their win streak to eight games in a 92-39 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Eureka College women’s basketball team, Wednesday night at the Reagan Center.  Eureka junior Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) led the Red Devils with 14 points.

The Golden Eagles scored 21 of the game’s first 23 points on their way to a big first half.  The Red Devils recovered to play Spalding even for a stretch of 3-minutes, 47-seconds midway through the half, but a 24-8 surge by the visitors before halftime gave Spalding a 51-18 advantage at intermission.

Spalding controlled the second half as well, shooting 57 percent (17-for-30) in the final 20 minutes of the contest and 52 percent (35-for-68) for the game.  Eureka shot just 24 percent for the game (14-for-58) and made only one of its 17 3-point field goal attempts.

Harrod led all scorers with 22 points in the win.  Like the first contest between the two squads, Jamison had the game’s only double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Eureka will continue its season-long four-game home stand this Saturday when SLIAC co-leader Webster visits the Reagan Center for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
