Taren Martin to Host Summer Youth Basketball Camps

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College women’s basketball head coach Taren Martin will host a pair of youth basketball camps this summer at the Reagan Center on the campus of Eureka College. An individual camp will be held June 4 and a team camp will take place June 27-28.
Taren Martin’s Girls Basketball Individual Camp will be held at the Reagan Center on June 4 beginning at 9 a.m.. The camp is geared toward improving current basketball skills. Campers will enhance their shooting, ball-handling, passing and defense with individual and group instruction from Taren Martin and current Eureka College women’s basketball players. Ages for the camp are from kindergarten through eighth grade. Campers will be grouped according to age group and skill level to receive the most benefit from the camp. Cost for the camp is $40. Lunch will be provided. More information will be distributed after individuals have registered. The one-day camp will end at 4 p.m.
Taren Martin’s Girls Basketball Team Camp will be held at the Reagan Center on June 27 and June 28. All high school junior varsity and varsity teams are eligible to participate. Teams must have a minimum of eight players. Each team is guaranteed four games, two on each day. Games are 40 minutes (two 20-minute halves) and each team member will receive a t-shirt. All teams will commute to and from campus. Cost for the team camp is $250. Meals will be provided by the teams. More information will be distributed after teams have registered.
Registration forms are available at the women’s basketball page on the Eureka athletics website, www.eureka.edu/athletics, and local elementary schools. To reserve a spot in either camp, return a registration form to Martin at 300 East College Avenue, Eureka, Illinois 61530, or contact her at (309) 467-6865 or tmartin@eureka.edu. For the team camp, a $100 deposit and team roster is due by Monday, May 16. The remaining balance of team camp must be paid in full by Monday, June 13. Space is limited and teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Checks should be payable to Taren Martin.
A 2004 graduate of Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. and a four-year player for the Redbirds, Martin will enter her second season as women’s basketball head coach at Eureka in 2011-2012. She also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator in the Eureka athletics department.
