ELMHURST, Ill. — After a rough start surrendering two goals in just over five minutes, Eureka College dug in and allowed three tallies to the Elmhurst College women's soccer team the rest of the way in a 5-0 set back Saturday.
Elmhurst (4-2) out-shot Eureka (3-3) 34-1, scoring twice on the first four attempts. The Bluejays added a third marker just before halftime for a 3-0 lead, then chipped in another in the 47th minute. The match was then scoreless for over 33 minutes before Elmhurst capped the scoring in the final minute.
The Bluejays put half of their shots on goal, with EC keeper Geanna Hiller (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) stopping 12 of the 17. KT Zapushek (Metamora, Ill./HS) registered the lone shot on goal for the Red Devils.
Eureka has one final non-conference turn up with a trip to Rockford College Monday, Sept. 15 at 3:00 pm before starting league play. The Red Devils will return to their home turf Tuesday, Sept. 16 for a 3:00 pm game versus Greenville College.
