red devils downed by regionally ranked principia
Boxscore
Eureka was blanked by the first place Principia Panthers on the road Saturday. Principia, which has lost just once in 16 matches this season, improved to 6-0 in SLIAC play. The Red Devils are now 8-10 overall, 2-4 SLIAC.
Principia's Alicia Girbes-Pierce, the leading scorer in the SLIAC, had just one shot on goal, but still aided her team's cause as that shot found the back of the net. Elizabeth Post tallied a pair of goals for the Panthers.
Eureka was limited to three shots on goal by the Panthers, who have surrendered only one goal in six league matches thus far. Being credited with a shot on goal for EC were Kelsey Baruzzini (Metamora, Ill./HS), Kate Huizinga (Downers Grove, Ill./South) and Amanda McClain (Girard, Ill./HS).
As the lone senior on this year's team, Huizinga will be recognized before the Red Devils' next match as they complete their home slate Wednesday, October 22 at 1:00 pm versus Fontbonne University.
