Huizinga Matches School Record in 6-1 Win at Spalding
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eureka College senior forward Katie Huizinga (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South H.S.) scored four goals to tie her own single-game Eureka goal-scoring record, leading the Red Devils to a 6-1 win over Spalding, Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Ky.
Huizinga previously scored four goals in a 7-1 win over Knox on Sept. 8, 2007. Her effort on Saturday gave Huizinga her first multi-goal game of the season. Senior K.T. Zapushek (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) added two goals in the win, while sophomore Kristina Bayes (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere H.S.) recorded an assist.
Freshman goalkeeper Lindsay Coffey (Pekin, Ill./Pekin H.S.) made seven saves, allowing only one goal from Spalding’s Lesley Bormann.
The Red Devils will return to the pitch at Traister Field on Tuesday to play Greenville at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
