Women's Soccer Falls at Webster, 5-0
FENTON, Mo. – The Webster women’s soccer needed only four minutes to jump to an early lead in Thursday’s SLIAC game against Eureka College, running away with a 5-0 win over the Red Devils in Fenton, Mo.
Jenna Steiner netted her second goal of the season in the fourth minute to give Webster a 1-0 lead. Megan Niederschulte, Kristin Garlich and Christy Capkovic added goals in the first half to give the Gorloks a 4-0 advantage at halftime. Capkovic added a second tally in the 53rd minute.
Eureka senior K.T. Zapushek (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) put two shots on goal to lead the EC attack. Webster’s Shelby Wade and Mario Arias combined to record the shutout.
The match was ended by the officials after 70 minutes due to inclement weather. The game was originally scheduled to be played Oct. 10, but heavy rains forced Thursday’s rescheduling.
The Red Devils will close the regular season this Saturday at Fontbonne. Kickoff against the Griffins is scheduled for 2 p.m.
