Principia Downs Women's Tennis, 9-0
ELSAH, Ill. – The Eureka College women’s tennis team played its first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road match of the 2010 season Tuesday night, dropping a 9-0 decision at Principia in Elsah, Ill.
The host Panthers won each of the singles contests in straight sets. Alyssa Wetterauer (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) and Natalie Wetterauer (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) each forced tiebreakers in the first set of singles action, but ultimately fell short. Alyssa Wetterauer and Meredith Lynch (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap H.S.) put together Eureka’s best doubles effort, but lost 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
The Red Devils will continue their busy week with a SLIAC match against Webster at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday in Eureka.
