Red Devils avenge earlier loss with 5-game victory at Fontbonne

The Eureka College volleyball team (9-10, 3-2 SLIAC) won a key St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference volleyball game Friday night at Fontbonne University (8-14, 2-3) in five hard-fought games (30-26, 30-27, 14-30, 26-30, 15-11). The win moves the Red Devils into fourth place alone in the league standings.

Junior libero Emily Forbes (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) posted a career-high 37 digs as EC held Fontbonne to a .092 hitting percentage. The Red Devils struggled offensively as well, but managed a .129 percentage, including a .533 mark in the fifth game. Chelsea Faith (Mt. Pulaski, Ill./HS) led all players with 14 kills and came through in the clutch with four kills in game five. Kaci Davis (Fairbury, Ill./Prairie Central) and Charissa Wilson (Princeville, Ill./HS) tallied 10 kills. Wilson added 16 digs for a double-double.

Laura Willman (Metamora, Ill./HS) did not forget to pack her strong serve with her for the road trip as she recorded four aces to go with 16 digs. Cara Willey (Lexington, Ill./Gridley) had 17 digs, while Krysta Matson (Metamora, Ill./HS) had 15 digs and 42 assists.
