Bahorik, Forbes named H.M. All-SLIAC

November 6, 2007

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Eureka College freshman setter Kylie Bahorik (Washington, Ill./Peoria Christian) and senior libero Emily Forbes (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) were named Honorable Mention All-Conference following a vote by St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference coaches.

Bahorik was one of just two freshmen to receive all-conference honors. She led the Red Devils (13-17, 8-10 SLIAC) in assists (909) and service aces (53), becoming the first player to lead the team in those two categories in the same season in nine years. During league play, Bahorik ranked second in the conference in aces per game (0.67) and fourth in assists (8.95). She started all 30 of Eureka's matches, accounting for 200 digs and 120 kills, which both ranked fifth on the squad. She also tied for the team lead with seven double-doubles and had the third highest hitting percentage (.229).

Forbes led the Red Devils in digs for the fourth consecutive season with 455. Already the school's all-time digs leader, she reached 2,000 career digs on October 23, a mark fewer than 50 NCAA Division III players have achieved. Forbes was fifth in conference play in digs per game (4.58). She had only 16 service errors in 323 attempts to lead the team in serving percentage (.950). After playing in all 117 of Eureka's matches over the last four years, her final career statistics boast 2,055 digs and 89 aces.

From the 10 conference member schools, seven players each were chosen for the first, second and honorable mention teams.

Both players will be recognized for their all-conference accolades along with other team award winners at the E-Tribe Fall Sports Banquet set for Noon, November 18.
