Kylie Bahorik named SLIAC athlete of the week
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has tabbed Eureka College's Kylie Bahorik (Washington, Ill./Peoria Christian) as its Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 22-28.
Bahorik recorded three double-doubles in four matches played last week giving her 13 for the season. The sophomore setter matched her career-high with 12 kills, including six in the second set alone, lifting the Red Devils (3-18, 3-1 SLIAC) to a 3-1 home court victory over SLIAC rival Fontbonne University. She then continued her standout play in Eureka's three matches during the Red Devil Invitational. Her eight kills versus Millikin led all players in the match, and she later went for 24 set assists and 13 digs against Robert Morris-Springfield and 13 assists and 12 digs versus Lincoln Christian.
Overall for the week, Bahorik had 69 assists, 39 digs, 26 kills, six blocks, five service aces and a .250 kill percentage. She is currently ranked in the top ten in the SLIAC in both assists (5th) and hitting (9th). She has moved into fifth place on the Eureka career assists leaderboard this season with 1,296. This is the first Player of the Week award for Bahorik, who was named Honorable Mention All-Conference following her rookie season last year.
