FULTON, Mo. – The Eureka College volleyball team played three matches in a span of 17 hours on Friday and Saturday, all three of which lasted five sets, on its way to a SLIAC split with Westminster and a non-conference loss to Stephens College in Fulton, Mo.

Eureka posted a dramatic, come-from-behind 18-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 18-16 victory over Westminster to open the weekend on Friday.  After Westminster won two of the first three sets, Eureka notched a 25-19 win to force a decisive fifth set.  The Red Devils trailed 13-8 in the set and successfully extended the match when facing match point on four different occasions before winning the set 18-16.

Senior outside hitter Heather Myers (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) recorded a match-high 18 kills.  Junior Paige Fannon (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) put down 10 kills, while senior Laura Willman (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) chipped with 36 assists.  Senior libero Lauren Snopek (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) had a team-high 28 digs, one of four players on the EC roster with at least 12 digs.

The Blue Jays returned the favor on Saturday morning, coming from behind to steal a split with a 25-10, 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 16-14 victory.  Myers turned in another solid outing with 15 kills, followed again by Fannon with 12.  Willman’s 42 assists were the fourth-highest total of her EC career and junior Marisa Durley (Roanoke, Ill./Roanoke-Benson H.S.) set a new career-best with nine kills.

All 12 healthy players played when the Red Devils closed the weekend with a non-conference match against Stephens, dropping a 25-19, 21-25, 25-16, 25-27, 15-11 decision.  Three players had at least 10 kills, led by Myers with 21.  Junior Kaurie Lindenmeyer (Arcola, Ill./Arcola H.S.) finished the match with 13 kills, her best outing since recording a career-high 15 kills in a win over Marian (Wis.) on Sept. 19.  Snopek narrowly missed a career-high with 37 digs in the loss.

Eureka will return to action with a non-conference match at Lincoln Christian on Tuesday at 7 p.m.  The Red Lions handed the Red Devils a three-set loss at the Reagan Center on Oct. 6.
