Volleyball Drops Two SLIAC Matches
WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – One day removed from clinching a spot in its first SLIAC Tournament, the Eureka College volleyball team dropped a pair of SLIAC matches on Saturday in Webster Groves, Mo. Webster downed Eureka, 25-16, 25-22, 25-16 before Spalding turned aside the Red Devils 25-8, 25-17, 25-18.
In the opener against Webster, senior Heather Myers (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) had 11 kills to lead the EC attack. Senior setter Laura Willman (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) had 23 assists and senior libero Lauren Snopek (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) recorded 19 digs. Junior Kaurie Lindenmeyer (Arcola, Ill./Arcola H.S.) finished in double-figures with 11 digs.
The Red Devils struggled in the nightcap against Spalding, hitting -.024 as a team. Myers had five kills, while Lindenmeyer and junior Paige Fannon (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) had four each.
Eureka will close out the regular season this Tuesday night at the Reagan Center against Blackburn at 7 p.m. Myers, Willman and Snopek will be honored prior to the contest during Eureka’s annual Senior Night ceremony.
