Volleyball Season Ends at SLIAC Tournament
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Eureka College volleyball team's stay at its first SLIAC Tournament came to an end Saturday night, as second-seeded Greenville posted a 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 win over the third-seeded Red Devils in the tournament semifinals in St. Louis, Mo.
Playing in her final collegiate match, senior outside hitter Heather Myers (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) put down nine kills to lead the Red Devils. Junior Paige Fannon (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) matched Myers with nine kills, while freshman Shari Steidinger (Forrest, Ill./Prairie Central H.S.) chipped in with eight kills.
The loss ends Eureka's season with a 12-22 record. The postseason tournament appearance was Eureka's first since joining the SLIAC in 2006 and first overall since participating in the 2005 Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference Tournament.
