Red Devils Cruise Past MacMurray
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Eureka College volleyball team earned its fifth St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night, rolling to a 25-19, 26-24, 25-16 sweep of MacMurray in Jacksonville, Ill. Senior outside hitter Brittany Feger (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth H.S.) paced the Red Devils with 12 kills and a .550 hitting percentage in the win.
Feger put down 12 kills on 20 attempts with only one error for the .550 hitting percentage, the second-highest total by a Eureka player in 2011 and Feger’s best since attacking at a .615 clip (18 kills) against Westminster as a freshman on Sept. 19, 2008. She needs 39 kills in her final five matches to reach 10th place on the all-time Eureka list. Feger added a season-high 10 digs and a pair of service aces to earn her first double-double of the season.
Junior outside hitter Shari Steidinger (Forrest, Ill./Prairie Central H.S.) added seven kills, while senior setter Annette Crady (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora H.S.) had 28 assists. Junior libero Courtney Kincaid (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central H.S.) led Eureka with 22 digs, joining Feger and three other Red Devils with at least 10 digs.
The Red Devils (7-16, 5-9 SLIAC) will have less than 24 hours to prepare for their next match. Eureka will make the short non-conference trip to Galesburg, Ill. on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. match against Knox.
