LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Eureka College volleyball team took a lengthy road trip to open the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of its schedule on Saturday, dropping a 25-10, 25-13, 25-14 decision to Webster before falling 25-21, 25-10, 25-11 to defending league champion Spalding, Saturday in Louisville, Ky.

In the opener versus Webster (5-3, 2-0 SLIAC), Eureka (1-8, 0-2 SLIAC) got four kills apiece from Brittany Feger (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth H.S.), Kelli Dunne (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods H.S.) and Peyton McAtee.  Freshman setter Karson Gragert (Georgetown, Ill./Georetown-Ridge Farm H.S.) chipped in with a career-high nine assists.  The loss drops the Red Devils to 0-10 in matches against the Gorloks since Eureka joined the league in 2006.

Feger paced the Eureka offense again with four kills in the evening matchup against host Spalding (5-7, 2-0 SLIAC).  Junior Courtney Kincaid (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central H.S.) had 10 digs, while senior setter Annette Crady (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora H.S.) set a new personal-best with seven assists.

After opening the 2011 campaign with nine consecutive matches on the road, the Red Devils will return to the Reagan Center for their home opener on Tuesday night against Blackburn.  The match, which will be the first official NCAA contest on the facility’s new hardwood floor, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
