ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS

 

Positions - A tenure-track professorship in mathematics with teaching duties including courses for math majors, math education specializations and general education mathematics.

The College - Eureka is a small residential liberal arts college located equidistant between the cities of Peoria and Bloomington/Normal. The campus is situated on 112 wooded acres with 24 academic and residential buildings in the city of Eureka, Illinois. Focused on “excellence in learning, service, and leadership,” Eureka College has had a major impact on American life, with alumni who have had successful careers in education, business, management, the arts and community service. Eureka's most famous graduate is Ronald Reagan, Class of 1932, who went on to become the fortieth President of the United States of America. Eureka currently has almost 650 students enrolled in 30 degree programs and has over 5,000 living alumni. Position Requirements - Desired are candidates who share a commitment to a liberal arts education and can demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, service and scholarship.  The generalist  mathematician will have teaching responsibilities in mathematics major courses from college algebra to real analysis.   The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics and ideally have ample teaching experience.  

 

Eureka College values excellent teaching at the college level that employs a variety of methods to enable all learners in the classroom. The small college reality requires professors who can be interdisciplinary and generalist in approach while still engaged in, and engaging about, their specific discipline.
