ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF EDUCATION
A tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the Teacher Education program is available beginning August 2013. Teaching responsibilities may include first year seminar, educational technology, middle level courses, supervision of field experiences, and an honors course. Additional duty as Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) coordinator is expected.
Eureka is a small residential liberal arts college located equidistant between the cities of Peoria and Bloomington/Normal. The campus is situated on 65 wooded acres with 24 academic and residential buildings in the city of Eureka, Illinois. Focused on excellence in learning, service, and leadership, Eureka graduates include forty-two college presidents, seven governors and members of Congress, and the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Eureka currently has almost 800 students enrolled in 24 degree programs. Chartered in 1855 to provide a “non-sectarian liberal arts” education by abolitionists who were members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Eureka was the first college in Illinois and the third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship. Candidates with a Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred but candidates with ABD or a Master’s Degree will be considered. NBCT certification is encouraged for all applicants.
