FINANCIAL AID SPECIALIST
Position
The Financial Aid Specialist provides day-to-day counseling activities and updates to student award accounts for current and potential financial aid recipients and is responsible for supervision of student workers in the Office of Financial Aid. This is a 12-month, full-time position with an excellent fringe benefits package.
The College
Eureka is a small residential liberal arts college located equidistant between the cities of Peoria and Bloomington/Normal. The campus is situated on 65 wooded acres with 24 academic and residential buildings in the city of Eureka, Illinois. Focused on excellence in learning, service, and leadership, Eureka graduates include 42 college presidents, seven governors and members of Congress, and the 40th president of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Eureka currently has approximately 800 students enrolled in 24 degree programs. Chartered in 1855 to provide a “non-sectarian liberal arts” education by abolitionists who were members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Eureka was the first college in Illinois and the third in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis.
Position Requirements
Qualified candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic mail; demonstrate a solid work ethic and attention to detail; and have the ability to clearly and effectively communicate financial aid programs to students and their families within a high level of confidentiality. Tolerance, patience, and the ability to interact with a diverse population are a must. Bachelor’s degree is required. Previous experience in Financial Aid, Student Services, Student Accounts, or related area is a plus.
