FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS -
ART
Professor of Art, Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Division and President of the John Wesley Powell Chapter of the National Audubon Society, has a strong commitment to education, conservation and art expression. She offers course work in several media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, design and photography. As a freshman Seminar team leader, she has guided student in-service projects in local land restoration. Her work as an environmental painter, produced at The Beluga Press Studio in Bloomington, Illinois, has been widely exhibited, winning awards and major purchases. Ms. Edge received her B.S., in Art Education, M.S. in Printmaking and Painting at Illinois State University and, completed graduate course work at the Brooklyn Museum in New York before earning a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Design. email
Lecturer in Photography, adjunct faculty. Teaching assignments cover basic understanding and execution of traditional darkroom and digital photography. Mr. Jones owns and operates CJ PHOTO, Inc., Bloomington, Illinois. He has studied with nationally recognized and published photographers - including Adam Jones and John Reddy, both frequent contributors to National Geographic. His style has been influenced by internationally recognized photographers such as Patrick DeMarchelier, Dominick Guillemot, Andrew Eccles, Fergus Greer, and Helmut Newton. email

Lecturer in Art, adjunct faculty member at Eureka College since Spring of 2003. Teaching assignments include Art History courses, Art Studio courses, and Western Civilization and Culture II. Ms. Rives is also an adjunct Art faculty member at Heartland Community College in Normal, IL. Co-founder of Mirror Image Press, she maintains an active studio, concentrating in papermaking and printmaking. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. As an accomplished lithographer, Rives consults at Normal Editions Workshop, the print research facility in the School of Art, College of Fine Arts, ISU. Ms. Rives earned her AA in Art from Lincoln Land Community College, BFA in Printmaking and Painting from Illinois Wesleyan University, MA in Printmaking from Illinois State University, and MFA in Fibers from Illinois State University.
THEATRE

Bill Davis is in his 34th year of teaching, directing, and designing at Eureka. His teaching responsibilities include direction, dramatic literature, stage design and lighting, theatre history, introductory theatre courses, and campus-wide interdisciplinary classes. He is the 1993 recipient of the College's Helen Cleaver Distinguished Teaching Award and was awarded a grant for summer study from the National Endowment for the Humanities at the University of Iowa. One of the founders of the Division of Fine and Performing Arts and its first Chairman, he has been involved with over 150 EC productions, several of which have been showcased at Regionals of the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival, for which he serves as an adjudicator. A resident of Eureka, and an avid NASCAR and railroading fan, he was elected to several terms as Alderman, serving for 8 years as Chairman of the City's Finance, Personnel, and Administration Committee. Holly Rocke, Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts and Drama, teaches the performing courses here at Eureka College. She is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, a member of the Society of American Fight Directors, and is the West Central editor for the Voice and Speech Review. Holly is interested in combining acting techniques with other disciplines toward the goal of expanding the definition and application of theatre. She is the creator of the Central Illinois Stage Combat Workshop now in its fifth year. She served as co-host and workshop coordinator of the region III Kenedy Center American College Theatre Festival for multiple years. She has worked with theatres in London, New York, and Los Angeles and has earned the following: a B.S. in Theatre and Mathematics, Eureka College; an M.F.A., in Acting Illinois, State University. email
Vice President for Admissions, Communications and Integrated Marketing, and Professor of Theatre Arts and Drama, served as Fine and Performing Arts Chair for 9 years and has been at EC since 1993. He is a Senior U.S. Fulbright Scholar who has lived in Taiwan where he taught graduate theatre management and was also Deputy Director of the America Center at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung. A member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, he is also the cofounder and former Associate Artistic and Managing Director of the New Harmony (IN) Theatre--a small summer Equity house. He was the founding archivist for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and has served as co-host for the Region III Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. He also serves as Curator of the Ronald Reagan Museum at Eureka College. He recently handed over charge of the directorship of the Reagan Leadership Program and the Sandifer Mentorship Programs after coordinating the programs for two years. MUSIC
Adjunct faculty member at Eureka College, is an Instructor of applied piano, lecturer in music theory, and staff pianist/accompanist. Mrs. Bates joined the faculty in 1996. She received a B.M.E. (music education), B. M. (piano performance), and M.M. (piano performance) from Bradley University. Mrs. Bates' teaching experience includes 15 years of public school music, 2 years at Illinois Central College (class piano), 11 years at Bradley University (applied piano), and over 20 years of private studio teaching. Other professional experiences in the central Illinois area include 18 years as a church musician (choir director/accompanist), choral director and accompanist for the Peoria Civic Opera, Eastlight Theater accompanist, Peoria Symphony Concerto Competition accompanist, Bradley Community Chorus accompanist, and accompanist for student recitals and concert performances at both Eureka College and Bradley University. She is a member of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association, has served as an adjudicator for local and state music contests (IHSA and IGSMA). and as a clinician for the Peoria Area Music Teachers Association. email
Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities, and the Coordinator of the Music Education program, Dr. Henry joined the Eureka College Faculty in 1991. He is also the conductor and artistic director of the highly acclaimed Peoria Area Civic Chorale. Dr. Henry has degrees in music education/choral conducting from the University of Southern Maine, University of Maine, and the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri – Kansas City where he studied conducting with Gerard Chamberland, Dennis K. Cox, Larry Rachleff, Gary Hill, and Eph Ehly. He taught public school music for ten years in Maine and served as the President of Maine Music Educators Association 1982-1984. In 2006 he was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into the Peoria Symphony Orchestra’s Hall of Fame. In 2008 Dr. Henry was the recipient of the Helen Cleaver Award for Excellence in Teaching at Eureka College. He has served as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician at choral festivals, clinics, and music conventions throughout the United States. Under his direction, choirs have sung for festivals sponsored by the Music Educators National Conference, the America Choral Director’s Association and the National-General Assembly of Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ). In addition, Dr. Henry’s choral ensembles have presented concert tours in Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, and Italy. email
