The Performing and Visual Arts Scholarships Eureka Collegeperformance at eureka
The Performing and Visual Arts Scholarships are designed to recognize those students with outstanding talent in drama, music, or art. Students audition for and are awarded $1,000.00 based on talent in those areas. Please do call Dr. Joseph D. Henry to discuss and arrange a scholarship audition.
Scholarship audition dates for the 2007-2008 academic year include:
Chorale Participation Scholarships
Were you a member of your high school choral ensemble? If so, you may qualify for a Eureka College Chorale Participation Scholarship. All freshman music education majors, music performance majors, or non-music majors are eligible for a $1000.00 annually renewable chorale participation scholarship. A vocal audition, theory diagnostic exam, and an interview with a member of the music department faculty are all required prior to the first day of classes of the student's first semester at Eureka College. Transfer students beginning their first semester at Eureka College are also eligible for a chorale participation scholarship award. Please call Dr. Joseph D. Henry to arrange an audition.

Chorale Participation Scholarship Expectations:
Applied Piano Scholarships
Annually renewable scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 are also available for talented pianists. [Students may not receive both an applied piano scholarship and a Chorale Participation Scholarship]. Applied piano scholars are required to enroll in four semesters of applied music lessons during which they are awarded an applied music fee waiver in the amount of $120.00 per semester. Please call Mrs. Pamela Bates to arrange an audition.
Piano Audition Requirements: - Three memorized pieces from three different periods of music history Applied Voice Scholarships
Chorale participation scholarship students may additionally qualify for an applied voice studio fee waiver in the amount of $120.00 per semester for four semesters. Interested students will also be required to audition for the voice studio faculty prior to the first day of classes of the student's first semester at Eureka College. Transfer students beginning their first semester at Eureka College are also eligible for the voice studio fee waiver. Please call Mrs. Jan Wanack to arrange an audition.

Expectations for all Music Scholarship Students
- Scholars will accept leadership roles as offered.
- Scholars with keyboard facility will accept responsibility as an accompanist and/or for a limited number of voices students if needed.
- Music Scholars will be available to perform as soloists, with reasonable advance notice, when invited to do so for college-related functions.
- Music Scholars awarded applied studio fee waivers must earn a grade of "B" or better in applied studio work each semester.
- Scholars will be encouraged to set aside time for the use of the practice facilities in the College Chapel during regular hours (8:00-10:00, Monday through Friday).
- Scholars are responsible for managing their participation in non-music activities in order to avoid interference with the fulfillment of these expectations.

Get to KnowMrs. Jan wanack
Professor of Music, joined the Eureka College faculty in 1976. A soprano with extensive recital and concert experience, her teaching responsibilities include applied voice, music history, music literature, and language diction. She also serves as Coordinator of the Senior Seminar program, and has served as a clinician, consultant, and adjudicator for numerous academic and professional organizations. In 1991, Prof. Wanack received the Sears Roebuck Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching and Campus Leadership. She was the 2006 recipient of the Helen Cleaver Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2007 received the T. A. Abbott Award for Faculty Excellence from the Higher Education and Leadership Ministries of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and a member and past President of the Central Illinois Chapter of NATS.
