Let's get you ready for EC
What is Jump Start?
Jump Start provides students the opportunity to interact with their peers and connect with current students, faculty, and staff to begin building relationships as they make the adjustment to life at Eureka College. The Jump Start staff, along with the entire campus community, is committed to making your transition to college life as successful as possible. View the brochure >
During Jump Starts, students will:
- register for classes
- meet their peers
- network with current students
- learn about campus resources
- activate email account
- meet representatives from campus services & programs
- stay overnight in our residence halls
During Jump Start, family and guests will:
- receive additional information about the college and it resources
- gain insight into the adjustments students and families will face during the next few years
- become better acquainted with the campus and university personnel
First -
Be sure you have made your $300 enrollment deposit. Jump Start dates will not be held for any student until the Admissions Office has received the enrollment deposit.

Select a Jump Start that works for you. Since this is such an important event for you to participate in, we've planned two overnights (with identical programs) for you to choose from:

Get to know
Jump Start's Leader
Sarah returned to her alma mater when she was named Program Coordinator in January 2008. She earned a bachelor’s degree in theater arts and drama in 2003 from Eureka College and a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Illinois State University.
As Assistant Dean of First Year Programs, Jiter's responsibilities include new student orientation, the first-generation program, health and wellness education, commuter and international student support services, and Family Association advising.

What time does Jump Start begin & end?
Each Jump Start session begins at 1:00 pm on day one and goes to 5:00pm on day two.

Are parents encouraged to attend Jump Start with their students?
Yes! We strongly encourage parents to accompany their student at Jump Start. Eureka provides many activities specifically for parents to attend. Parents can lodge in a separate residence hall on campus ($25 per parent) or they may choose to stay in a hotel.
Where should I call if I need to arrange an accommodation for my Jump Start?
If you need a special accommodation to fully participate in the Jump Start program, please contact the Student Programs and Services office at (309)467-6420 at least one week prior to your reserved Jump Start date.
What should I bring to Jump Start?
All students (even local) will be staying in a residence hall during Jump Start. Please bring bedding (sheets), towels, pillow, blanket, alarm clock, toiletries, casual clothing and shoes (students will have access to the Bonati Fitness Center), money for miscellaneous expenses, light sweater or jacket. A full packing list will be sent to all participants prior to reserved Jump Start date.
