Then you need The Learning Center.

The Learning Center provides free academic support services for ALL Eureka College students. The Center has two support services - The Writing Center and The Math Lab. Both areas provide tutoring, advice, and individualized guidance.

THE WRITING CENTER

In the Writing Center students can obtain feedback on personal or course related writing projects. Peer consultants offer assistance at any stage of the writing process. Writers at all levels in all disciplines find this service beneficial. Consultants are available in Alumni Court and Melick Library; check the schedule and hours through the link above.

THE MATH LAB

Staffed by peer consultants, the Math Lab provides assistance with Math 098, Math 099, and Math 121 on a walk-in basis Sunday through Thursday in the afternoons and evenings. Arrangements can be made for help with other math courses by contacting the Center.

In addition to these two support services, course tutors can be arranged in most subject areas. Simply contact The Center to set up individualized appointments.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

The Learning Center is also the source for tips on a variety of study skills - including time and project management, note taking, and test taking. Call the Center or drop by for more information or to explore what is possible.

Spruce Up Your Presentation Skills

Constructive feedback and tips on improving your personal and PowerPoint presentations are provided through the Learning Center. We can critique your web page creations as well. Give us a call to set up an appointment.

Get to know

the center's director

Director of the Learning Center and Instructor in the Education Department, JoAnne holds a B.S and an M.S. Degree in Speech Pathology and Language Pathology from Illinois State University and received an Administrative Certification Degree from Bradley University. She supervised Special Education Programs in the Central Illinois area for many years prior to serving as a principal at all levels throughout her public school career.

"The Learning Center here at Eureka College is a wonderful place. Since we are on the residential side of campus, it is convenient for students to stop in while they are studying to get advice, revise papers, or just study with somebody. It gives me great pleasure as the Director of the Center to be able to assist students with their study habits, time management and many other challenges that are a part of the academics here at Eureka College.

I look forward to working with the students every day. We have had over 400 visits to the Learning Center this semester already and look forward to at least that many next semester. We have six peer consultants in the areas of writing and math and tutors for specific courses are available for the asking. You will be surprised by how much we can do for you.
