Are you ready? The Alumni Leadership Connections Conference is almost upon us! We have had a wonderful response from alumni who are excited to return to campus this weekend to reconnect with their alma mater while connecting with fellow alumni and current students. Building pride and community: that is what we do in the alumni/development office and that is what this special weekend is all about! Our alumni presenters are ready to inspire connections as opportunities are created to build networks of students and alumni. The Alumni Leadership Connections Conference

The Alumni Development Office will host the 4th Annual Alumni Leadership Connections Conference on January 31 and February 1, 2014. The conference will run concurrently with the Student Leadership conference offering the opportunity to mingle with students and later break into informational sessions that will challenge you and connect you with the Eureka Community. Dr. Logsdon’s Studs Terkel Project Spotlight

Significant and Fascinating Events and Moments in EC History Fred Altman’s Story of the Battle of the Ivy on Pritchard.

Dr. Loren Logsdon, Professor Emeritus of English, has captured the spirit of Eureka College history in a special project he fondly calls the “Studs Terkel Project.”
The project is a collection of alumni memories and stories which weave a rich tapestry of the Eureka College experience during the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s.

This collection of stories is available in the Online EC Bookstore .

Florida Gatherings in Orlando and Sarasota planned for February 2014

The Alumni Office will host two events in Florida the weekend of February 15 and 16, 2014. Please mark your calendars for a wonderful luncheon hosted by Rev. Keith Elliott ’55 planned for noon on Saturday, February 15 at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club in Orlando. Gulf Coast area alumni will have the opportunity to connect on Sunday, February 16 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the Chart House on Longboat Key for drinks and appetizers. Basketball Alumni Appreciation Events Planned for February 2014

The Eureka College Alumni Office will host Basketball Alumni Appreciation Events in February 2014 to honor former players and coaches in conjunction with their home games. Alumni from the Men’s program will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8 during half-time of the men’s game and following the game with a party in Rigazio Lobby of Reagan Center. Alumni from the Women’s program will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15 with a mimosa brunch in Rigazio Lobby of Reagan Center preceding the women’s game and a halftime recognition.

March Madness Alumni and Friends Gathering

Eureka College will host an alumni and friends gathering on Friday, March 14 from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Kelleher’s Irish Pub and Eatery in Peoria. This event will take place between Session I and II of the IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament at the Peoria Civic Center. Come visit with Eureka College Head Coach Chip Wilde, Legendary Coach Dave Darnall, and several members of the Alumni and Athletics staff! Whether you are attending the State Tournament or just wrapping up a work day, don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy some great fellowship, food, and fun! Kelleher’s is located at 619 SW Water Street, Peoria.

Impressions Submissions Sought

Submissions are now being accepted for this year’s edition of Impressions, Eureka College’s arts publication! Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to
contribute. This year, one of the foundational values of Impressions is diversity; Impressions takes pride in publishing a varied body of work. That is to say that
we hope to receive submissions from students of all the disciplines and from alums! For submission criteria, please follow this link. We accept poetry, prose, photography, and graphic arts. The deadline is Friday, February 14, so don’t delay!


Admissions Alumni Ambassadors Needed

Our Chicagoland area admissions counselors are looking for alumni who are willing to assist them with some area college fairs in the next few weeks. Crosstown Classic in the Desert: Alumni Spring Training Weekend in Phoenix, AZ

The Eureka College Alumni Office will host an alumni weekend in Phoenix, AZ, March 21 and 22, 2014 for two spring training games at Camelback Ranch, spring training home of the Chicago White Sox. The fun begins on Friday, March 21 with a pregame tailgate party at 10:30 a.m. followed by a 1:05 p.m. game featuring the White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs.Tickets are $30 each for this game. Saturday, the White Sox will play the San Francisco Giants at at 7:05 p.m. Eureka will host a pre game gathering at the Bull Pen Patio where alumni and friends can visit, eat and watch the game. The cost for this game is $40 per ticket. Tickets for these games are limited and available through the Alumni Office at 877-892-7823 beginning January 6, 2014. Transportation and lodging arrangements are on your own. A block of rooms has been placed on reserve with a special group rate at the Courtyard Marriott Phoenix West/Avondale for $169 USD per night.
