Reference Collection

 

The reference area contains print, online, and multimedia resources.

  • 3,000+ reference books.

  • 550+ journals, magazines and newspapers in print and microfilm, including current subscriptions to over 330 titles.

  • 600+ full text journals, magazines and newspapers available online via EBSCOhost, OCLC FirstSearch, Lexis Nexis, and netLibrary.

  • 20+ print indexes and 3 electronic indexes providing citations and abstracts to periodicals and books.

  • Two online public access computers providing information to the holdings of Melick Library and other Resource Sharing Alliance members.

  • Four reference computers providing access to the World Wide Web, Library Catalogs, and Periodicals Databases.

  • Vertical Files containing college catalogs, course syllabi, annual company reports, and pamphlets, and brochures covering a wide range of topics.

 

Ask Away Online Assistance

 

Through funding provided by the Illinois State Library, a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using federal LSTA funding, Melick Library offers 24 hour per day, 7 day per week online reference assistance. Ms. Kelly Fisher is Assistant Professor, Public Services Librarian. Ms. Fisher is responsible for reference, electronic collections, library instruction, interlibrary loan, and serials.
