Presentations about the ballet, “The Changeless Mover: A Ballet in Five Movements,” will be at 10 a.m. and repeated at 11 a.m. Oct. 2 in Becker Auditorium in the Cerf Center at Eureka College. The presentations are free and open to the public.
Composer James Marck will discuss how he converted abstract philosophical and religious concepts of St. Thomas Aquinas found in Aquinas’ “Summa Theologica” into the mediums of drama, including symbols, characters, costumes and the overall esthetic. The presentation will include audio excerpts from the ballet.
Marck is director of music at Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Catholic churches, Peoria.
The ballet is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 at Five Points Washington. It will feature dancers from the Peoria Ballet Academy. Academy Executive Director Melody Reynolds will give a brief description of the academy during the Eureka College presentations.
