Eureka College’s ‘Maroon and Golden Rule’ community service day April 25
Eureka residents may submit requests for clean-up help, babysitting, etc.
Eureka College students, staff and faculty will hold a community service day on April 25, and Eureka residents are encouraged to submit requests for help with clean-up projects and child care. The “Service: Maroon and Golden Rule” project will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and will provide assistance with home improvement projects, including yard work, painting and cleaning, and child care.
The project stems from a $1,000 Raise Your Voice Fellowship received by Eureka College junior Ashley Warchol of Coulterville from Illinois Campus Compact and the McCormick Foundation. The grant will cover the costs of administering the project.
“The project’s title, named for our school colors, epitomizes treating others the way that you want to be treated by offering the campus community’s help to people in the Eureka community,” Warchol said. “It’s a way to say thank you to the community for its ongoing support of the college.”
Eureka residents may complete a job request form by clicking the link below, by contacting associate dean of students Shari Rich at srich@eureka.edu, or by calling (309) 467-6421. Deadline for requests is April 1.
Eureka College is among six Illinois colleges and universities to receive the grant from Illinois Campus Compact, which promotes leadership and citizenship development for Illinois college students. Warchol will attend several Illinois Campus Compact leadership conferences with other grant recipients throughout 2009.
