Eureka College Education Department to hold open house, retirement reception for Leonard Savage

October 7

The Eureka College Education Department will hold a combined retirement reception for education professor Leonard Savage and a departmental open house at its new offices at 203 Campus St. from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 7.

The department moved to the facility, which formerly was a private residence, in August. The department oversees the college’s teacher education program that prepares students for careers in education.

Savage, who will retire in December, has taught at the college for 26 years, first on a part-time basis in the Upward Bound and summer programs and then full-time beginning in 1997. He was the chairman of the Education Division and the coordinator of the Mathematics Lab. He formerly was a mathematics and physics teacher and principal at Eureka High School.
