Violin, piano recital set for Oct. 1 at Eureka College

October 1 - 7:30 pm - McCallister Hall

Violinist Marcia Henry Liebenow and pianist Robert Satterlee will present a free recital at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 in McCallister Hall in the Chapel at Eureka College.

 

The program will feature sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Gabriel Faure. It will feature two pieces by Czech composer and violinist Josef Suk, who was a student of and son-in-law of Antonin Dvorak.

Liebenow teaches violin, viola and chamber music at Bradley University, Peoria. She has been concertmaster of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra since1992. She is a soloist and chamber musician and has toured extensively in the United States and Europe, including as soloist with the Samara Philharmonic Symphony in Russian and as primo violino at the Orvieto Musica in Italy.  Her CD recording of the Grieg Violin Sonatas with pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi was released in 2007 on the Centaur label. In 2006 ArtsPartners of Central Illinois honored her for creative contribution to the area, and in 2003 she was named the outstanding studio teacher by the Illinois American String Teachers’ Association. In 2008 she received the College of Fine Arts Distinguished Alumni Award in Music from Ohio University and the 25 Women in Leadership Award from the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.

Satterlee teaches piano at the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, where he is coordinator of graduate studies. He is a soloist and chamber musician and has toured extensively in the United States, including the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts in Chicago, San Francisco’s Old First Concert Series and the Schubert Club, St. Paul. He has performed on Minnesota Public Radio and most recently toured with Bach Four, performing Bach’s "Well-Tempered Clavier." He is co-founder of Chamber Music Quad Cities, which presents summer concert series and music festivals in Iowa and Illinois.

 

He teaches at Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, Interlochen, Mich.

Liebenow and Satterlee also will present the recital at Bradley University at
7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in Dingeldine Music Center. They performed recitals together in fall 2009 at the Toledo Museum of Art and Bowling Green State University.
