Eureka College Seeks Children to Sing in Theater Production
april 17 - 21
Auditions for the Eureka College Theatre Department’s production of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” by Judith Viorst will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 in Pritchard Theatre on College Avenue.
Children ages 5 through 11 are needed to sing in a children’s chorus. Children will be required to sing a short excerpt from the musical “Oliver.” Copies are available for pick up at Pritchard Theatre.
The production is set for 7:30 p.m. April 17-21 in Pritchard Theatre.
The play is a musical adaptation of Viorst’s award-winning1972 children’s book of the same name. It centers on a young boy whose day includes a number of mishaps and disappointments.
“The play will not only entertain but educate young audiences as they identify with Alexander and the obstacles he encounters, encouraging them to share their feelings and to realize that bad days happen,” said director and theater professor Holly Rocke.
The play premiered at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in1998. It was adapted into a television special for HBO.
