Students to Observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day by Serving Others

Classes at Eureka College won't be back in session until Jan. 17, but a group of students is getting together a day early to honor the memory of Martin Luther King Jr.

The students will hold a "Martin Luther King Jr. Morning of Service" from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 16 at Maple Lawn Homes, 700 N. Main St., Eureka.

The students will visit nursing home residents, help prepare and serve meals and perform housekeeping tasks.

The event is co-sponsored by Eureka College's Students in Service organization and the Multicultural Student Union.

Sophomore Kamrin Ruder of Eureka is organizing the event.
