Eureka College faculty member to give voice recital

Soprano Elizabeth Ducey Moss, an adjunct music professor at Eureka College and Illinois Wesleyan University, will give a voice recital at 4 p.m. Sept. 13 in McCallister Hall in the Chapel at Eureka College. The free performance will be followed by a reception. Ducey Moss joined the Eureka College faculty in August.

Ducey Moss is a recitalist and concert soloist whose recent performances have featured music of women composers. She received first place in the central region of the 2008 National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award competition.

On the opera stage, her roles have included Elvira in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Fiordiligi in “Cosi Fan Tutte,” Guilietta in “Les Contes d’Hoffman” and Gertrude in “Hansel und Gretel.” Her oratorio credits include Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis,” Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” and Mozart’s “Requiem.” She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and an honorary member of Sigma Alpha Iota women’s music fraternity.

Ducey Moss formerly taught at Webster University, St. Louis; Elmira College, Elmira, N.Y.; and Cedar Arts Center, Corning, N.Y. She received a bachelor of music degree from Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada; a master of music degree from Binghamton University, Binghamton, N.Y.; and a doctor of musical arts degree in vocal performance and literature from the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign.
