Eureka College names alumni relations director

Shellie Schwanke is EC grad and 20-year employee

Shellie Schwanke of Eureka was named director of alumni relations at Eureka College in October.  Her duties include alumni communications and events, with an emphasis on relationship-building and service to alumni.

Schwanke is a 1987 graduate of the college and has been employed there since 1989. She formerly was coordinator of creative services. Her duties included special events planning, marketing and editing the Eureka Magazine.  Before that she was the assistant to the director of college relations. She also was the assistant curator of the Ronald Reagan Museum at Eureka College.

Throughout her career at the college, Schwanke has worked on many special projects within the alumni and development office, including organizing a trip to Washington, D.C., last spring for the 25th anniversary of the college’s Ronald Reagan Leadership Program.

Schwanke is married to Curt Schwanke, who also graduated from Eureka College. The couple has two daughters, Lauren, 16, and Katie, 12. She is involved in music ministry at Northwoods Community Church and a graduate of Richwoods High School, both in Peoria.
