Fairy tales production to be staged

Sept. 11-13 at Eureka College Cerf Center

 

The Eureka College theater department in conjunction with the Eureka College Women’s Board will present the children’s theater production “Fairy Tales: The Royal Players of Prince Desmond” at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Terrill Rooms in the Cerf Center.

The original work by Eureka College senior Jessica Whitington of Oakwood will feature a collection of fairy tales as told to grumpy Prince Desmond by his court players. The tales will include “The Mouse and the Lion,” “The Elves and the Shoemaker,” The Brementown Musicians,” “The Golden Fish,” “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” “Venus and the Cat” and “Puss in Boots.”

Cast as Prince Desmond is Jacob Williams of Washington. Rounding out the cast are Laura Weuthrich of Carlock,  Cara Gardner of Germantown Hills and Quincy McSweeney, Kyle Johnson, Brianna Schmitt, Matt Jones, Jackson Ward, Sam Knappenburger, Gabe Pierce, Katie Kruger and Ben Kruger, all of Eureka.  

Eureka College students in the cast are Kelly Beaty of Hoopeston, Nikki Hennenfent of Cameron, Hillary Thomas of Carlock and Catherine Davis of Otterbein, Ind.                     

Cost is $5 for children and $10 for adults and includes refreshments. Proceeds will support the Eureka College Women’s Board, which raises funds for various projects benefiting Eureka College. For reservations phone the college box office at 467-6363.
