Eureka College concert to feature a cappella performances

The Eureka College Chorale and Chamber Singers will hold their free, public fall concert at 4 p.m. Nov. 15 in Becker Auditorium in the Cerf Center. A reception will follow.        

In preparation for their concert tour in Italy in May, the ensembles will perform all a cappella songs. The program will include “Adieu, Sweet Amaryllis” by John Wilbye; “There is a Balm in Gilead” by William Dawson; “Exultate Deo” by Alessandro Scarlatti; “Hush! Somebody’s Callin’ My Name” by Brazeal Dennard; “S’Andasse Amor a Caccia” by Claudio Monteverdi; “Barbara Allen” arranged by Mac Huff; “Musicks Empire” by Lloyd Pfautsch; “Coyote Song/Ay! Susanita” by Ted Allen; “Nothin’ Gonna Stumble My Feet” arranged by Greg Gilpin; “Missa Secunda” by Hans Leo Hassler; “Five Canzonets” by Jean Berger; and “Elijah Rock” by Jester Hairston.

The program also will include selected soloists and ensembles representing the music department.

Music professor Dr. Joseph D. Henry will direct the vocal ensembles. Assistant professor of music Pamela Bates will accompany some of the performers on piano.
