Veterans invited to Eureka College meet and greet event

november 8 - 5 to 7:00 pm - Cerf Center

Area veterans and their families are invited to mingle at a meet and greet event sponsored by a Eureka College communications class as part of its class project. The free event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 in the Cerf Center on campus. Refreshments will be served.

Luanne Bruckner, Regent of the Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution, will speak at 6 p.m. The DAR has assisted the class in its semester-long project to raise funds for the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, which provides free transportation to World War II veterans to the World War II Memorial and other sites in Washington, D.C. The class has raised money for the organization by seeking sponsorships from local businesses, collecting donations and mailing pledge forms.

“Our meet and greet event is a way for the class to recognize and thank veterans for their service,” said class member Erica Lawver of Macomb. “Class members are hoping that veterans and their families will enjoy this opportunity to be together and share memories and experiences of their military service.”

For more information, contact Lawver at elawver @eureka.edu or class instructor Amanda Frioli at 467-6332.
