Eureka College to hold first
Eureka Conference on Economic Development May 9
the cerf college center - 11:00 AM TO 2:00 pm
Eureka College President J. David Arnold will welcome area business leaders and government officials to the college’s first Eureka Conference on Economic Development from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. May 9 in the Cerf College Center. Arnold plans to make the conference an annual event.
The keynote speaker will be David Hamilton, a public administration professor and the chairman of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Roosevelt University, Chicago. Hamilton’s topic will be “Regionalism and Economic Development,” which will discuss the potential for economic growth in Woodford County and the possibility of establishing a strategic plan to guide the growth.
Hamilton’s research has focused on regionalism and public and private collaboration and partnerships.
“Dr. Hamilton will provide a perspective of how other regions have assisted and influenced economic development, and he will suggest ways that local government can work with the nonprofit sector in developing and implementing an economic development plan,” Arnold said.
Advance registration is required by April 17. Cost is $5, which includes lunch. Following the presentation there will be table discussions and responses from a panel of local leaders.
