Sarah Bouchie, Todd and Kim Cheek to receive
Young Alumni Awards

Sarah Bouchie of Atlanta, Ga., and Todd and Kim Cheek of Pontiac will receive Eureka College Young Alumni Awards at the college’s annual alumni dinner at 5 p.m. May 17. The public is welcome. Tickets are $25 and may be reserved by calling (309) 467-6317.
The annual awards are given to alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years and who have shown outstanding commitment to their professions, communities, churches and alma mater, said LeaAnne Schmidgall, director of alumni relations.
The Cheeks graduated from Eureka College in the 1990s. Todd Cheek is a music teacher at Pontiac Township High School. Kim Cheek taught English at Pontiac Township High School for 14 years and now teaches part-time. She also is a daycare provider.
The Cheeks established the Mackhayley Foundation in memory of their daughters, Mackenzie Rae and Hayley Grace, to benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital of Illinois, Peoria, and the obstetrics department at OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac. Since its inception two years ago, the foundation has raised more than $20,000.
Bouchie, a former Ronald Reagan Fellow at Eureka College, graduated in 1997. She is director of girls’ education at CARE International, a global confederation of 12 national member organizations working to end poverty. Bouchie travels worldwide to implement programs to improve the lives of women and children through early childhood development, teacher development, integration of anti-bias and tolerance in classrooms, adult literacy, civic education, community participation and gender empowerment.
