Eureka College names director of Center for Lifelong Learning
Peoria Native assumes position
Betsy Bladel of Peoria was named director of the Center for Lifelong Learning at Eureka College May 1.
Bladel’s duties include promotion and administration of the college’s nontraditional academic programs, including organizational leadership and special education. She received a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Eureka College in December.
Bladel formerly was a reading tutor at Northmoor Edison Primary School, Peoria, where she received a Those Who Excel Award for outstanding contribution to education from the Illinois State Board of Education. She also was a teacher’s assistant at Tyng and Thomas Jefferson primary schools in Peoria, and she was a desk clerk at Fondulac District Library, East Peoria.
Bladel is a member of Junior League of Peoria and P.E.O. and an emeritus member of the OSF Saint Francis Women’s Services Advisory Board. In 2005 she received a 25 Women in Leadership Award for community service from WEEK TV.
Bladel received an associate’s degree in library technical assistance from Illinois Central College.
