Eureka College graduate’s art show opens Feb. 5

february 5 - march 1

Elizabeth Anderson of Roanoke will present an art exhibit titled Decryption Feb. 5- March 1 in the Burgess Hall Art Gallery at Eureka College. An opening reception will be from 3-7 p.m. Feb. 5. It is free and open to the public. Anderson received a bachelor’s degree in art and writing from Eureka College in December.

The show will feature ceramic vessels representative of pieces digitally rendered in the computer game Shivers. Her work, Anderson said, “seeks to bridge the gap between art that entertains with art that informs and provokes.”

“When I played Shivers for the first time in 1995, I was interested in the ceramic vessels and their story because they were intriguing and entertaining,” Anderson said. “I pursued knowledge of how the game was made and what types of references were used. As a result I've learned a great deal about the creation of this timeless game and the attributes of ancient cultures that are reflected in the pieces.”

The daughter of Robert and Lynne Anderson of Roanoke is a 2005 graduate of Peoria Christian High School.
