Psychology Professor Receives EC Teaching Award

Dr. Ann Fulop honored

EUREKA – Ann Fulop of Lexington, a Eureka College associate professor of psychology since 2008, was named the 2010 recipient of the Helen Cleaver Distinguished Teaching Award at the college’s graduation May 8.

The award recognizes excellence, creativity and innovation in teaching. It includes a financial stipend, and the award-winner is the speaker at the college’s fall opening convocation. Nominations are made by faculty, staff and students, and the winner is chosen by a selection committee.

The award is named for a 1928 Eureka College alumna who had a long and successful teaching career.

“Dr. Fulop has had a profound impact on her students,” said Provost and Dean of the College Philip Cavalier, who presented the award. “She is a creative, rigorous and passionate classroom teacher who exemplifies the best qualities of teaching at a liberal arts college.”

Fulop teaches social psychology, sensation and perception, cognitive psychology, history of psychology and industrial-organizational psychology. She recently was named director of the college’s organizational leadership program that allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership on weekends.

Fulop received a bachelor’s degree from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass., and a doctorate in industrial-organizational psychology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va.
