Wind quintet to perform ‘An Evening of Suites’

at eureka college

The Heart of Illinois Wind Quintet will perform a concert titled “An Evening of Suites” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in McCallister Hall in the Chapel at Eureka College. The performance is free. A reception will follow.

The program will feature a work titled “Shoreton Suite” by composer Lowell Koons of Pekin. Koons, who is a retired orchestra teacher and a violist with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, will read his original poetry to accompany the work.

The program also will include suites by Andrejs Jansons, Marin Marais, Herman Stein, Heinrich von Herzogenberg and Georges Bizet.

Members of the quintet are Grant Gillett, bassoon; Nancy Gillett, oboe; Sherril Diepenbrock, clarinet; Randi Lancaster, flute; Phillip Lancaster, horn; and Myrna Bietz, piano.
