Colton Lott of Ada, Okla., has received a Ministry Fellowship to attend Eureka College this fall.
The full-tuition, four-year scholarship is based on academic achievement, leadership and a desire to enter the ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Eureka is among 17 colleges and universities affiliated with the Christian Church. The fellowship includes two mentorships with ministries related to the Christian Church. The program pays for the costs associated with the mentorships.
Lott will major in philosophy and religion and plans to become a minister.
Lott is a son of Chris and Stacie Lott of Ada and the late Melissa Lott. He attended Ada High School, where he was valedictorian, treasurer of the Student Council, captain of the Academic Team and a member of the Young Democrats Club and the swim team. As president of the Science Club, he organized the school’s annual Earth Day lunch party. He attended Boys State, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. He is a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Ada, where he is active in mission trips and camps and is a co-chairman of the Regional Youth Council of the Oklahoma Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
“Eureka College is pleased to welcome Colton to this ministry program,” said Eureka College Chaplain Bruce Fowlkes. “He has made leadership and service to the church his personal goal, and he will be a wonderful addition to the Eureka College campus and the Eureka community.”
Eureka College was chartered in 1855 by anti-slavery activists affiliated with the Christian Church. It offers bachelor’s degrees in the sciences, mathematics, business administration, social sciences, fine and performing arts, humanities and education.
