Eureka College Awards Inaugural Sauk Valley Community College Reagan Transfer Scholarship

Carson Andrew of Oregon, Ill., has received the inaugural Sauk Valley Community College-Eureka College Reagan Transfer Scholarship from Eureka College. The scholarship is valued at $2,500 and is renewable for a second consecutive year at Eureka College.
Andrew is a son of John and Susan Andrew of Oregon. He will enter Eureka College this fall to study athletic training and plans to participate in baseball.
Andrew is a 2011 graduate of Sauk Valley Community College, Dixon, where he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa national honor society and the baseball team. He volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and is active with his church’s mission trips.
Andrew also received a $4,000 Walnut Grove transfer scholarship and a $2,000 Phi Theta Kappa scholarship from Eureka College.
The Reagan Transfer Scholarship was established this year and will be awarded to one student each year transferring to Eureka College upon graduation from Sauk Valley Community College. The scholarship honors the memory of Ronald Reagan, who grew up in Dixon and graduated from Eureka College in 1932.
Criteria for the scholarship include good academic standing, good character, positive attitude, financial need and the recommendation of the president of Sauk Valley Community College. For more information, contact the office of admissions and financial aid at Eureka College at (309) 467-6350 or

The scholarship was established with gifts from Eureka College alumnus Leo Patterson of Sterling, class of 1961, Sauk Valley individuals and businesses, and members of the Ronald W. Reagan Society of Eureka College. The college will continue to accept contributions to support future Reagan transfer scholarships. Contact the development office at (309) 467-6317.
