Eureka College moves up the rankings

Us news and world reports college rankings

Eureka College moved up in the rankings of best colleges in the Midwest according to the annual college rankings released Aug. 17 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2008 list of “America’s Best Colleges.” Eureka College ranked fourth in Illinois and 28th in the Midwest among the best baccalaureate colleges. Last year it ranked sixth in Illinois and 42nd in the Midwest.

“Eureka College continues to build on its strong academic program and reputation for excellence,” said President J. David Arnold, who added that Eureka College is seeing record enrollments and is attracting students with increasing high school class rankings and ACT scores.

“It’s clear to see that students and families understand that throughout the college’s long history, our outstanding faculty and our focus on the individual student have helped shape leaders who have made a difference in Central Illinois and the world,” Arnold said. “It’s gratifying that the opportunities and excellence that are part of a Eureka College education are being recognized in this way.”

The U.S. News & World Report’s rankings are generated by a formula that includes variables such as graduation and retention rates, faculty and financial resources, student selectivity and the percentage of alumni who donate money to their alma mater.
